Just twenty more days before the arrival of the most anticipated game of the year, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. In this sequel to the very good FF7 Remake at the end of which you leave the city of Midgar, Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret and Rouge XIII will finally go hunting for Sephiroth and find the last companions who will accompany them in the story.
All shown in the various trailers for the game, Cait Sith, Yuffie, Vincent and Cid will be there. Except that if for the first two we have already been able to see gameplay, for the last two this has not been the case for a very simple reason: they will not be playable in this episode.
Cid and Vincent will not be playable in FF7 Rebirth
In an interview granted to IGN, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of FF7 Rebirth confirmed that if Cid and Vincent will accompany the group from the moments you meet them, they will not be playable. And although this may seem like sad news to some, This is quite logical though. given the timeline of the game.
FF7 Rebirth will follow Cloud and his troupe to the events of the City of the Ancients, which will conclude with this legendary scene that we still won’t spoil 27 years after its arrival. At the start of this episode, Red XIII is already with us, and we will quickly meet Yuffie (who was already playable in Intergrade, the DLC of FF7 Remake), as well as Cait Sith. So it made sense for Square Enix to make them playable in Rebirth.
Concerning Cid and Vincent, their arrival in the group is already later (especially Cid), and creating gameplay from scratch for yet 2 new characters who also arrive late doesn’t make much sense for Square. And above all, we must not forget that the last episode of the trilogy, supposedly FF7 Reunion, must still keep its share of surprises and new features, in which we obviously already imagine ourselves shooting the enemies with Vincent and using our spear with Cid.
Hamaguchi still reassured by explaining that they will still play an important role in Rebirth: “We’re going deeper into their characters. Not through the combat system, but through side quests where they’ll be the center of attention and you’ll learn a lot more about these characters.”
The demo is available, don’t forget!
While waiting to be able to touch on the potential game of the year on February 29, we remind you that the game demo is available since the day before yesterday, in which all of Chapter 1 awaits you. Another demo often presented in the various trailers in the Junon area and its surroundings should also be released before the 29th.
A good way to get into the action and remember the events of Remake before the incredible journey that awaits us at the end of the month on PlayStation 5!
