Saturday February 10, 2024, around 5:50 p.m., after the Ligue 2 match between AJA and Angers, a group of around forty supporters including Auxerre ultras stoned the bus of their Angers counterparts which was returning to Maine-et -Loire. The events occurred on rue de la Noue, in Auxerre. The bus was then escorted by two police vehicles.
According to our information, the police quickly managed to put an end to the scuffles. The group of Auxerre supporters dispersed. The damage would only be material: an impact on a bus window, a windshield wiper from a police vehicle torn off. “No injuries have been recorded,” says Clémence Choutet, the chief of staff of the prefect of Yonne. Around fifty Angevin supporters were inside the bus.

Two Auxerre supporters arrested
Two Auxerre supporters were arrested and taken into police custody. They are being prosecuted for “having participated in a gathering with a view to committing an offense”. One of them, aged around thirty, lives near Pourrain. The second, younger, is of Belgian nationality: close links exist between the auxerre ultras and those of Charleroi, specifies a police source.
The Yonne prefecture underlines “the effectiveness of the escort system”. She indicates that the match between AJA and Angers was not classified as risky. “I firmly condemn these behaviors, which are not part of the tradition of the supporters of this beautiful AJA club whose sporting career is the pride of the Icaunais,” also declares the prefect Pascal Jan.
The president of the Ultras Auxerre group, Jonathan Ernie, contacted by text message this Sunday, February 11, indicates that he learned that there had been these excesses while he was still at the Abbé-Deschamps stadium. “These events are in no way a decision of the association. We have never had any problems with Angevin supporters in the past.” And added: “Only one of the two suspects is a member of Ultras Auxerre”.
