Game news GTA 6 will be released when it is 100% “creatively optimized”, Rockstar is always striving for perfection!
Since the beginning of December, we have known that GTA VI is indeed called that, that it will feature two characters in Vice City, and that its release is scheduled for 2025. On the other hand, we do not know much about the scenario, new gameplay features, or the way the title will be generated over time. And, obviously, Rockstar continues to take its time.
Grand Theft Auto VI: finally official more than 10 years after GTA V
Grand Theft Auto VI will return players to Vice City. No more question of reliving the 80s, the adventure will take place in a modernized city, full of excess, social networks and organized crime. During this new adventure, players will follow in the footsteps of Lucia and Jason, a criminal couple who we see arriving in a store with a scarf on his face and weapons in his hand. The first trailer, released earlier than expected due to a leak, served as framing. We discovered the environments, the tone, the characters and the “color” given to the game. It was not a question of presenting gameplay, but of indicating the direction.
In addition to this journey directly evoking Bonnie & Clyde, social networks should directly be part of the themes addressed, and we suspect that cryptocurrencies and other NFTs will be presented in one way or another. For the moment, the title of Rockstar nis only announced on PS5 and Xbox Series, but it seems difficult to imagine that the PC will not be affected sooner or later. In the meantime, we will have to be patient. Rockstar rolls out its communication plan as it sees fit, presenting things at regular intervals until the release. In the case of Red Dead Redemption II, we started with a short teaser, before seeing more trailer after trailer, until the release.
GTA VI: between expectations, commercial requirements, and the desire to achieve “perfection”
Concerning this release, we recently learned that Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, had revised its forecasts downwards for the fiscal year which ends in March 2025. For many, this means that GTA VI might not release until April 2025 at least. A feeling reinforced by Statements from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. Asked how the release of a game like GTA was decided, he replied:
We strive for perfection, and when we feel we have maximized creativity, it’s time to step out. (…) We’re all in this together (and) there’s potentially an inherent tension between bringing a product to market and creating perfection, but this society values perfection.
To another investor, he indicated that according to management, GTA VI was much more anticipated than GTA V was in its time. However, the latter, helped by GTA Online, has sold more than 195 million copies. Take-Two has taken note of the enormous anticipation surrounding GTA VI but is hard to make predictions about how GTA VI will perform commercially after its release. One thing is certain: it will be very difficult to do as well or better than GTA V. Rockstar probably has this in mind by not wishing to rush the release of the title. These responses clearly show that Rockstar, which is almost an anomaly by only releasing very few gamesremains faithful to its idea of releasing games “when they are ready”.
