Dakota Johnson’s presence in the finale of “The Office” is not memorable, but rather an anecdote. The actress did not enjoy this experience.
Dakota Johnson, a furtive appearance in The Office
It was in 2015 that Dakota Johnson was revealed, thanks to Fifty Shades of greyfirst opus of the trilogy Fifty Shades. Before that, the actress had participated in numerous productions in very secondary roles. Like with The Social Network (2010) or in 21 Jump Street (2012). It is also in the series that she was able to shine by playing the main role of Ben and Kate (2012-2013). But this is not the only show in which the actress was able to participate since she also appears in the final episode of The Office (2013).
If the comedy carried by Steve Carell has become cult, the presence of Dakota Johnson in it is not the most memorable thing. You can see it very quickly in the last episode of the series, either in the background or during a quick conversation with Oscar (Oscar Nuñez). His presence should have been more important but several scenes from the finale were cutincluding some with the star of Madame Web.
“The worst moment of my life”
Obviously, Dakota Johnson Didn’t really enjoy this experience. However, she was first a fan of the series and really wanted to participate in it. But on set, things weren’t very happy for her, as she explained during the Late Night With Seth Meyers (video at the end of the article). First, because instead of coming only for half a day, she had to stay two weeks, to ultimately hardly appear.
Honestly, it was the worst time of my life. (…) I was there for two weeks and I’m barely in this fucking show.
A resentment that goes with the particular atmosphere on the set, as the series was preparing to end after nine seasons. Obviously, the regular actors, present since the beginnings of The Officewere not very enthusiastic and Dakota Johnson paid the price.
They were sad. And there was a strange dynamic after 10 years. Some people weren’t talking to each other, and I arrived like: “Hahaha! I’m so happy to be here!”. But no one wanted to talk to me. Nobody gave a damn. (…) And I was in the background of all these scenes, faxing things.
This is not the first time that Dakota Johnson has spoken about this difficult experience on The Office. Near Vanity Fairshe returned to this event in 2022. She added at the time that she had the feeling of having “embedded at someone’s birthday party“. Obviously, while a reboot of The Office would be in development, we can’t imagine Dakota Johnson returning for a cameo if this project succeeds.
