Bison Futé’s forecasts for the winter holidays and its advice against traffic jams
HOLIDAYS – Whether you plan to put on skis or stay at home, this weekend of February 9 to 11 marks the start of the winter holidays for zone C which includes the academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse and Versailles. But not only that: this is also the case for the southern zone of the Netherlands and those of Carnival for Luxembourg.
As with every first holiday weekend, Bison Futé gives its road traffic forecasts and advice for avoiding traffic jams. HuffPost takes stock here to save you endless hours of waiting bumper to bumper.
Fortunately, the forecast is not too bad for this weekend and green will be dominant. According to smart onethe majority of vacationers will head towards the ski resorts of all the mountain ranges, and for Ile-de-France residents, mainly towards the northern Alps.
A Friday more crowded than usual, a clear Sunday on the horizon
Thus, in the direction of departures
– Friday February 9 is classified green at the national level and orange in Île-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. In the urban areas of Montpellier, Toulouse and Paris, significant traffic on the main roads will be expected and more pronounced difficulties compared to an ordinary Friday.

– Saturday February 10 is classified green at the national level and orange in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Burgundy and the East. Traffic will be difficult on all the major routes around Montpellier, Toulouse and Paris with more intensity on the routes towards the mountain ranges, particularly on the A6 and A42 motorways.

– Sunday February 11 is classified green at the national level.

In the direction of returns, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be classified green at the national level.
Bison Futé’s advice
To avoid slowdowns on Friday, users are advised to leave or cross Île-de-France before 2 p.m. and to avoid the afternoon peak period (between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.) for the urban areas of Montpellier and Toulouse. Traffic difficulties are expected on the main routes towards the northern Alps (A7, A43).
For Saturday, it is advisable to avoid the A6 motorway, between Auxerre and Lyon, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The same goes for the A43 motorway, between Lyon and Chambéry, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As well as the RN85 national road, between Grenoble and Gap, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For Sunday, nothing to report, Bison Futé seeing green all day in both directions.
